Discovery and significance of insects fossil in the Quaternary Kongma basin, Naqu, Tibet, China

Abstract: Recently insects fossil have been discovered in the Quaternary Kongma basin, Naqu, Tibet for the first time. Their basic features and the location are described. Primary identification suggests that the insects fossil belong to diptera, heteroptera and hymenoptera. The test results of ESR geochronology samples belong to Early midio-pleistocene. The discovery have provide new data for the organic evolution, the lake and river evolution, the climate change, the paleogeographic and the paleoenvironment changes, and the stratigraphic division of Quaternary.
