Abstract:
cm, which was found from the Late Cretaceous Dongyuan Formation of the Heyuan basin, is reported herein. Judged from the size and morphology of the tooth, it should belong to tyrannosaurid. The preserved portion of the tooth is slightly curved with a weakly D-shaped cross-section near the middle part. The tooth enamel is very thin, and the exposed portion of the tooth displays distinct longitudinal striations. The dentin thickness varies in different directions and bears a distince delamination phenomenon. The tyrannosaurid tooth provides a solid evidence for the discovery of tyrannosaurid skeleton form the Late Cretaceous stratum in the near future.
