Abstract:
The Bangong Lake Fe-Cu polymetallic mineralization belt is located in the western part of the Bangong Lake-Nujiang River structural and magmatic mineralization area where Permian marine carbonate rocks widely occur as highly advantageous ore-bearing stratum, Upper Jurassic to Lower Cretaceous granodiorite and granite bodies intruded into the Permian and Triassic strata, which are quite favorable magmatic mother rock. Regional structures which provide proper hosting and storing space for migration and concentration of ore-forming material include NWW-trend Bangong -Nujiang suture zone which traverses the study area and subordinary NE, NW and SN-trend fractures as long as minor structures in contact belt and interlayer fracture zone. It is indicated by aeromagnetic anomalies research that it is a Level 1 prospecting area with beneficial mineralization conditions and great potential for Fe-Cu resources. Based on analysis on regional geologic survey of 1∶250000 scale Kana, Ritu County and Qiangduo sheet, together with recent exploration breakthrough, this paper has resulted into preliminarily discussion of ore-forming characteristics of the Bangong Lake area and delineated six promising zones within this area.
