Abstract: Based on historical progress as well as new requirements for geological intelligence work posed by current situation, this thesis has discussed the nature and orientation of geological intelligence work in the following four aspects: "intelligence and information", has probed into the importance of intelligence work in regard to three aspects: information has probed into the importance of intelligence work in regard to three aspects: information has probed into the importance of intelligence work in regard to three aspects: information collection, analysis and service. Generally, intelligence work is divided into two categories: namely strategic intelligence and tactical intelligence. The former one is applicable to whole prospective while the latter is more focused to key tasks. Lastly, in this paper the author has researched the establishment of intelligence organization and intelligence talent training mode, further points out that as the pioneering organization of China's geological work, China Geological Survey should put emphasis on maintenance and reinforcement of geological work.
