Abstract:
The Yesanpo National Geopark is located in the junction between the Taihangshan fault uplift and the Yanshan platform fold belt. The two tectonic units are separated by the Zijingguan fault. In the park there are plenty of sites of geological importance, all of which are the quintessence of the geology of North China. There are 4 stages of grand structural joints. They are related to the compression from the Indosinian South China plate, Yanshanian Izanagi plate, North China-aged Pacific plate and Himalayan Indian plate. The four stages of structural joints, especially the N-S trending "trace tensional joints" played a leading role in controlling the structural geomorphology of the National Geopark region.
