Abstract:
The Late Cretaceous Laijia Formation and Chichengshan Formation are redefined in this paper. The former was established in 1978. According to the lithological character, it was originally divided into members a and b. Because it yields plenty of dinosaur skeletons and eggs, the formation has aroused attention of domestic and oversea scientists in the part twenty years. In 1994 this formation was abolished and replaced by the Liangtoutang and Chichengshan Formations. After a detailed field study and systematic analysis, the authors revised the distribution of the Upper Cretaceous in the Tiantai basin and the Laijia Formation. The revised Laijia Formation stands for member a of the Laijia Formation and the Chichengshan Formation for member b.
