Abstract:
Quaternary volcanic rocks near Maiga Township, Zhongba County, Gangdise Mountains, Tibet are one of the important findings during 1∶250000 regional geological mapping in the blank areas of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. This finding not only fills the gaps in the study of Quaternary volcanic rocks in the Gangdise continental-margin volcanic arc and perfects the temporal-spatial framework of the magmatic evolution of the Gangdise belt, but also is of great significance for studying the uplift mechanism of the entire Qinghai-Xizang (Tibet) Plateau. This paper describes in detail the distribution, geological setting, petrochemical and geochemical features of this suite of Quaternary volcanic rocks, and also discusses its formation time.
