Abstract: This paper briefly introduces some basic characterictics of the stratigraphy, magmatic rocks and magmatism, metamorphic rocks and metamorphism, geological structure and evolutionary history in the Jiangsu region, and describes the stratigraphic sequence, sedimentary formations, paleontology and isotopic ages; types of magmatic rocks and regularities of magmatic activity; major fold and fault structures; tectonic cycles and tectonic layers as well as tectonic units and general regularities of tectonic evolution.
