Abstract:
The Cambrian of North China type in Henan province may be divided into three series, nine formations and 26 fossil zones. The Xinji-aged (Early Cambrian) sea transgression in the North China platform originated from the northern part of the Yangtze shallow sea. There was appreciable difference in MidLate Cambrian biotas between the North China Sea and the Yangtze Sea. It is inferred that the North China plate was separated from the Yangtze plate in the Cambrian. Through the stratigraphical correlation with the Cambrian in Australia, North America and Siberia, it is considered that the North China Sea was linked with the Australian Sea, connected with the North American Sea and first departed far from and then neared the Siserian Sea in Cambrian time. The above-mentioned seas were all located in the oceanic region near the equator.
