Abstract:
On the basis of vast amounts of actual materials obtained through regional geological surveys in Jilin province in the past 25 years, this paper deals with the basic geology of this province comprehensively, systematically and in general outline. The content includes three parts: regional stratigraphy, petrology and geological structure. The part of stratigraphy mainly introduces the advances made in the Precambrian, Cambrian, Ordovician and Me（?）ozoic of the province. The part of petrology mainly concerns the advances and current status in magmatic rocks and metamorphic rocks. Finally the tectonic framework of the whole province is discussed from the view-point of poly- cyclic tectonic activity and it is concluded that the generation, development and evolution of the Jilin geosyncline exhi bited the features of strike and lateral shifts and tail-raise in structural shifts.
